Harrison Dillon and his San Francisco-based company, Solazyme are solving a nest of complex issues that involve fuel scarcity, energy security and environmental impact. The company uses algal biotechnology to renewably produce clean fuels, chemicals, foods and health science products.

ABOUT Harrison Dillon

“Harrison Dillon is a co-founder of Solazyme and its President and Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Dillon is a thought leader in the renewables field, sitting on a number of Advisory Boards. He is an inventor on over 30 of Solazyme’s patents and patent applications and he oversees Solazyme’s extensive IP portfolio.

Harrison’s scientific training is in the field of microbial genetics began in the Microbiology and Immunology Department at Emory University. His later research was performed in the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Utah, where he received his Ph.D. in genetics.

He went on to manage the biotechnology patent portfolio of the University of Utah in the University’s Technology Transfer Office. Dr. Dillon also received a J.D. from Duke University School of Law and is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He’s a member of the State Bar of California and was an Associate in the Biotechnology Group at Townsend and Townsend and Crew. He has authored articles in scientific, business, and legal journals.”
