Eat Art
Today I learnt the art of walking while eating. Now to some people this action is second nature but for me, well, it’s a nuance of life that has somehow escaped me until now. I felt like I had two left feet, the hand-mouth co-ordination felt like such a strange sensation when coupled with the task of walking at the same time!
I think that there are levels of multi-tasking and I quite clearly am a novice when it comes to walking while eating. When I’ve been people-watching from the inner hub of a city cafe I’ve always marvelled at the midday lunch crowd and their ability to complete this apparently everyday action without so much as a hint they might get or have indigestion. Incredible!
In my opinion, walking and eating is an art, you learn a certain knack I suppose of just how to fuel the body while using the lunch spell purposely and effectively. The art I think is in getting the balance right of holding a drink in one hand and eating, whatever, with the other.
I don’t know what made me want to try walking and eating today, I think that my curiosity got the better of me. I’ve tried it now and I’ve decided that once is quite enough unless for some unexplainable reason I am forced (for whatever reason) to do it again. Call it one of life’s little buffet experiences.
So when was the last time you did something outrageously un-you? As you get older, you’re supposed to know better. I apparently don’t and therefore, trying something I’ve never done before gives me both a challenge in the beginning and great satisfaction on completion. You see, I don’t mind the ‘big’ things in life, it’s the small things that puzzle me. For the record, while I concede eating and walking is an art, I recommend sitting and eating for the sheer joy of it.
