Laptop Heaven

My laptop died an invirtuous and most undignified death yesterday. With an epitaph befitting a poor man, the message on the screen was short, sharp and to the to point. It was missing a driver (poor sod!) nothing to propel it further in its life it simply gave up the ghost?

So today, after 15 mins in a a store full of technological wizardry I brought a new one and will
send my old one into the boffins to resurrect those things I’d forgotten to back up the last time (and
commiserate on my foolishness not to have done so).

Something about putting it on a docking station and downloading everything from my hard-drive onto
another lap-top la di dah di dah! Boffin jargon is so condescending. How does it get that way? Why couldn’t someone just say “penneylane you silly duffer, you should back up every day or you’ll be stuffed!” Now, that I can understand.
