Posy of Regret

Regret is an anathema to confidence because it puts a dent in it every time. Yesterday was one of those days. Have you ever had a day when (of its own accord) your mind hangs up the “Gone Fishing” sign without so much as a courtesy one of “Back in 5 minutes” too! Regret is an anathema to confidence because it puts a dent in it every time.

The thing about regret is it’s so immediately chastening and we only ever become the recipient of it when it nags us to consider our actions with a little more scrutiny than we’d probably like.

One of my chief regrets in a gloomy day was never being quick enough off the mark with a come-back line that would pack a punch and send the whoever into yesterday. That in itself is a truly regrettable thought.

Yesterday I felt like being mean to someone, verbally mean and that’s so unlike me. It was a classic case of a desire to strike back or risk being bulldozed. Sometimes that’s just business.

I’d been in hospital where getting a reasonable nights sleep was simply out of the question (new sounds, strange bumps in the night, trolly’s and the like) despite the quiet location and home-like atmosphere.

On reflection I’m thinking maybe I should have been the one trying to make my way to the middle ground. Lack of sleep can make you maddeningly dim when you’d prefer to be on top of your game.

My morning meeting was demanding because thinking numbers (and lots of them) is difficult when your physical state is teetering near a precipice! Physical rules everything, even mental dexterity!
