Dinner Jacket
Last Sunday I went to dinner at my friends Jen and Graes home in Balmain. It was the first time I’d gone to dinner wearing my dressing gown and my PJ’s. I have to admit I’ve never done that before, ever! Gone to dinner in this particular attire I mean. Have you ever? It was a revelation to me because once I got over myself I actually enjoyed it! I was as smug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug lounge lizard.
Actually, I think I’ll do it again sometime soon because Jen says, “wear the dressing gown because it’s so huggable!” It’s true. So true infact that Molly must have membrances of her kittenhood because at night she insists on sleeping on my dressing gown (nevermind if I happen to be in it) albeit with primeval kneading that suggests a long-lost memory of her mother. I feel guilty though I’m never actually sure why!
The company as usual was delightful, suture-breakingly funny at times (I had an operation 3 days earlier). I met Ben (a School Teacher) and Simone (in HR) and their beautiful baby who was just an angel. Calm like her parents. No-one thought twice of my attire. So what’s the funniest thing you’ve worn out publicly? Really, I’m interested. Certainly mine was no Dinner Jacket but gee it was alot of fun … and so comfortable!
