Weeding Out

I love weeding. There’s something so satisfying about it that when I survey my handiwork at the end of the day I tend to feel rather smug. What’s not to feel smug about? Evicting unwelcome agricultural tenants has a distinctly satisfying feel to it.

I love that weeding affords a girl time to think, not about anything in particular mind, (unless something in particular is the order of the day), rather, it creates a spacious-ness in our thought processes that is rejuvenating. It clears the cobwebs too that have gathered in the corners of our minds.

It’s amazing how a few hours in the garden with clear up all those issues that have been flung in the too-hard basket of a busy life. I’ve noticed that despite some issues never having changed something in me changes and any meaning I’ve attached to the issue is somehow put into a better perspective than before. I love that about weeding.

It makes thinking less complicated, less demanding and yes, entirely satisfying. Let’s face it, there’s nothing worse in life than a bindii (Soliva pterosperma – prickly lawn weed) stuck in your foot when all that was needed was something like Chemspray Bin-Die or Yates Weed ‘n’ Feed to bring it under control.

Sound familiar in other parts of your life? Well, weeding is not just for the garden you know. I don’t live my life in a vaccum and I suspect you don’t either. Weeding, it’s a great life leveller. It gives you back some much needed perspective. It’s liberating in that respect, try it sometime soon. Maybe like me, you’ll feel the shackles fall off from around your ankles. Feels great!
