ABOUT Leisle Grant
“In 2001 she completed a pilot of ‘Leisle’s Latenite Lounge’ Variety Show, shot and post-produced entirely on a digital format that showcased diverse Up and Coming musicians, comedians and other creatives.
In 2007 she was accepted into the Australian Film Television and Radio School. It was while studying at AFTRS that Leisle discovered her passion for short form content, and the opportunities presented by the emerging web and mobile-based media.
Since attaining her Graduate Diploma in TV Production, she has continued developing this passion, using YouTube to broadcast her existing short form content (Vodules) while conceptualising an exciting new proposition in Digi-media. Leisle is using her passion and skills to support the emergence of women in digital media.”
5 KURIOUS KIWI QUESTIONS
Do you have interesting friends? I do. I’m a kurious kiwi, so in this LifeStyle section I ask them 5 Questions. Their responses are sometimes startling yet always thought evoking. I ask each of them a common question relating to a Cause they believe in and why it matters to them. Read on to share in their take on what they think really does matter.
Funkiest thing that’s happening in your world right now?
The funkiest thing in my world are for sure my friends and family. I have the BEST mates in the world. They are what keep me fabulous! Always willing to be there, lend a hand or an ear, they are fun and funny and without them I could never be the woman I am accused of being!
As a Documentary Director/Producer, what is your eye trained to look for in talent when you look through the camera lens?
Passion and Truth – they are always the ONLY things that matter
Tell us about a Cause you support. What hooked you?
I have two things that I am always ready to fight for: Women’s rights is something very close to my heart. In an age where we can see that age, race, and colour make no difference in how we should be perceived or treated why should gender STILL be an issue. The other is self determining creatures, creating spaces in our world that look after the animals that live here too. You don’t have to OWN something to look after it.
Your Top 3 Documentary works we should look out for from 2010?
Ok, for me viewing is very personal and the stories that I respond to tend to change with my moods, so rather than 3 doco’s how about 3 Documentary sites that get your mind and soul searching:
1. WOW Film Festival
2. Top Documentary Films; and
3. Women’s Issues Documentary Films
You have one of the BEST tutu collections I know. Which is your favourite? Who is the designer?
My tutu’s come from all over the place but my new BLUE tutu that I will be wearing to host The WOW Film Festival in March in Sydney, is my fav at the moment. The designer is Tania Alessi Kastrounis of ‘Paris Daisy Couture’ and it is sooooo designed to flounce, so that is what I will have to do.
