Shereef Bishay’s first business was building the first online company in Egypt. After two years, Shereef and his partners sold Career Egypt to Microsoft where Shereef then went to work for a few years as Lead Developer. He made a leap into the non-profit world, and is now the resident nerd at BetterMeans.com, a platform for peer-to-peer focused companies to be more agile, resilient, innovative and democratic.

ABOUT TEDx

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, ‘ideas worth spreading’. The programme is designed to give communities, organisations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. TEDx events are fully planned and co-ordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. All videos found in this section have previously appeared in the Major MindStylers section on the frontpage of my website. Enjoy.

ABOUT Shereef Bishay

bishay_shereef“Amongst other things, Shereef starts stuff. He is a Web application developer and solution architect with over a decade of experience.

He is the co-founder and currently focused on building a web-powered business governance structure at BetterMeans.

Based on open source principles, this emerging governance model enables organisations to run openly, efficiently and democratically.

Beyond rigid hierarchies, and flat circles, this conversation is an invitation to dive deeply into the details of how this new type of organisation works.

Better Means’ vision is for everyone to have access to life-affirming work. Work that engages people’s passion, purpose and potential, and where their full humanity is realised in just and productive ways.”
