Trial front man, Greg Bennick delivers a profound 10-min talk on becoming an artist of the human condition. He makes people laugh while inviting them to think. He speaks about becoming the change you wish to see in the world: getting involved in ideas, leadership and creativity. He follows up his words with actions.

ABOUT TEDx

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, ‘ideas worth spreading’. The programme is designed to give communities, organisations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.

ABOUT Greg Bennick

“Greg Bennick is an American professional keynote speaker, humanitarian activist, and award-winning producer and writer. He has spoken to and performed for various groups at conferences, seminars, and universities in over a dozen countries on four continents as a keynote entertainer.

He focuses on two main topics: mastering the unexpected, an interactive keynote about finding new perspectives on change, and also on getting involved, a keynote which discusses serving others and incorporates new perspectives on leadership and teamwork.

Greg released the critically acclaimed ‘Flight From Death’, a documentary about death anxiety, inspired by the works and writings of cultural anthropologist and social theorist Ernest Becker (1924-1974). The film examines the possibility that our innate fear of death fuels anxiety and violence, and as a result, comes to surprising conclusions about why we live in a violent world and offers suggestions about what we can do to change that. This is critically important information for anyone who cares about why our world, and our lives, are so often filled with emotional and political tension.

He co-produced ‘The Philosopher Kings’ (2009), a film that seeks wisdom in unlikely places from people who are most often marginalised and ignored by society. It’s a film about who we choose to look to for guidance and wisdom. Afterall, isn’t it true that the most intelligent, wisest, and most creative person we encounter all month might be the person who just shined our shoes, swept our floor, or cleared our table? The discussion which follows this film brings audience members into a deeper understanding of society and ourselves and how we look at and more importantly, how we listen to, those around us.

He is also co-producer on “La Source” a documentary about the installation of a permanent and reliable water system for a remote village in Haiti who’s inhabitants previously had to drink polluted water locally, or endure a treacherous walk into the mountains and risk injury in order to access clean water. Greg also continues to sing for the Seattle straightedge hardcore band Trial.”
