Rita J. King: Creativity and Design of Identity and Community
Rita J. King thinks of technology as a prism held up to the bright beam of the imagination to create a new global culture and economy. She supports the creative use of digital technology to inhabit ideas, facilitate new dialogue and collaborate on solutions to challenging issues.
ABOUT TEDx
TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, ‘ideas worth spreading’. The programme is designed to give communities, organisations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
ABOUT Rita King
“If anyone survives the digital revolution, it will surely be Rita J. King. Through imagination and will power, she plans to come out on the other side of this, landing on two feet in an augmented version of our semi-unhinged world.
She is not the type to sit around waiting for someone to tell her what that new reality will look like or what her place will be. “Instead of going along the path that is circumstantially dished out to us, we should create a path,” she says.
Rita has served as Innovator-in-Residence at IBM’s Analytics Virtual Centre, a former Senior Fellow at The Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs in New York City and a current Senior Fellow at the Centre for the Study of the Presidency & Congress in Washington DC. Her essays, various writings and works of art have been commissioned, published and exhibited globally.
Rita is a frequent international speaker on the subject of productive creative collaboration and the cultural and economic implications of the Imagination Age.”
