Dominic’s organisation, ‘The Humblefactory’ champions ‘makers’, craftspeople who form the cottage industries of the world. His online platform helps empower these makers, linking them up with markets through co-manufacturing and product design strategy.

ABOUT Pop Tech

ABOUT Dominic Muren

“Dominic Muren is lead by founder and principal of the Humblefactory. The Humblefactory is a design laboratory in Seattle Washington. They develop tools and design frameworks which assist Makers around the world to build the things that mainstream manufacturing won’t or can’t maker for them.

He is a 2011 Poptech Social Innovation Fellow, TED Fellow, and innovator. Having worked in robotics, architecture and product design, Dominic turned his passion for sustainability into his own design lab, the Humblefactory, and the design-sharing platform Alchematter. The Humblefactory and Alchematter are creating communication and fabrication infrastructure to empower a new global community of small makers who will redefine manufacturing.

His book, ‘Green’s Not Black & White: The Balanced Guide to making Eco-decisions’ has appeared in six languages. He was awarded a 2010 TED Global Fellowship for his work on Humblefacture.com, an evolving manifesto that argues that by bringing factories down to a local, accessible scale, manufacturing can be made more environmentally, socially, and functionally positive.”
