Plan B aka Ben Drew, is emerging as one of Britain’s most imaginative and dexterous artistic talents. A singer, musician, writer, actor and director he first made his name as a hip-hop artist with the release of his critically-acclaimed debut album in 2006. In an Observer interview last year, Plan B said that much of his film and music work is inspired by injustice and much of it reflects on his life and upbringing as a youth in East London.

ABOUT Ben Drew

“Ben Drew aka Plan B is a British rapper, singer-songwriter, actor and film director from Forest Gate, London. He first emerged as a hip hop artist releasing his critically acclaimed debut album ‘Who Needs Actions When You Got Words’ in 2006.

His second studio album ‘The Defamation of Strickland Banks’ (2010) was a soul record and went straight into the UK album chart at No.1.

He has also had a successful film career as an actor, with roles in Adulthood (2008), Harry Brown (2009) and 4.3.2.1 (2010). This month, he released the single and video for ‘iLL Manors’, a song that deals with the 2011 London Riots and that has been described by The Guardian as “the first great mainstream protest song in years.” An album and film of iLL Manors, Drew’s first as a director, are due to follow.”
