In her enlightening talk, Madhavi Sunder describes how cultural pirating is nothing new. Remixes and covers have long been a part of society. Sharing is how we create new culture and is what binds humanity together. But in a world of unequal power and knowledge, we ought to ensure that culture is exchanged on fair terms.

“Professor Sunder is a leading scholar of law and culture and a Professor of Law, at the University of California, Davis, School of Law. She has been a Visiting Professor of Law at the Yale Law School, the University of Chicago Law School, and Cornell Law School.
In 2006 she was named a Carnegie Scholar and honoured as one of four “top young IP scholars” by Lawrence Lessig, Professor of Law, Stanford Law School.
Her work crosses many legal fields, from Intellectual Property to Human Rights law and the First Amendment. She has published articles in the Yale Law Journal, the Stanford Law Review, the California Law Review, and Law and Contemporary Problems, among others.
Her book, ‘From Goods to a Good Life: Intellectual Property and Global Justice’, was published by Yale University Press last month.”
