ABOUT TEDx

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, ‘ideas worth spreading’. The programme is designed to give communities, organisations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.

ABOUT Lucas Welch

“Lucas Welch is the Founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Soliya, an International Non-Profit organisation combining best practices for constructive dialogue with innovative application of new media technologies to foster greater cross-cultural respect and cooperation.

Prior to his work with Soliya, Lucas was a producer for ABC News working with Peter Jennings and developing both video and multimedia content. He taught media at Birzeit University, and conducted research at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University on emerging systems and online organising. Lucas is a TED Fellow, an Echoing Green Fellow, and a ‘Global Expert’ for the UN Alliance of Civilisations.

Lucas uses media as a means of connecting people, particularly across the current divide between people in the West and the Muslim World. He worked on the ‘Shape of the Future’ documentary series portraying what peace could look like for a Palestinian and Israeli television audience.”
