Glenn Kelman realised that after a decade in which American culture came to be defined by Internet Start Ups, he felt they’d lost their way. IPOs collapsed. Doubts bloomed. Now virtual and real-world elements are coming together in a new kind of company that’s slower and harder to build, but can be bigger and more meaningful. He suggests we take the RED pill.

ABOUT TEDx

TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, ‘ideas worth spreading’. The programme is designed to give communities, organisations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.

ABOUT Glenn Kelman

Glenn_Kelman “Glenn Kelman is the CEO of Redfin. Redfin is a company of Real Estate agents and software engineers working together to reinvent real estate in their customer’s favour.

They give their customers information no other agent will, and they pay their agents a customer satisfaction bonus rather than a commission. So, instead of going for the easy sale those agents will fight to get what’s really best for Redfin’s customers.

Prior to joining Redfin, he was a co-founder of Plumtree Software, a Sequoia-backed, publicly traded company that created the enterprise portal software market. In his seven years at Plumtree and at different times, he led engineering, marketing, product management and business development.

He was also responsible for financing and general operations in Plumtree’s early days, earlier working as one of the first employees at Stanford Technology Group, a Sequoia-backed start-up acquired by IBM. Glenn was raised in Seattle and was graduated from the University of California, Berkeley.”
